We stayed at Faver-Dykes because we couldn't find reservations closer to St. Augustine for the Christmas holidays. This park is about a 20 minute drive into St. Augustine, and it was fine for a second choice. Faver-Dykes is a smaller Florida state park with only 30 sites, all water and electric. They have a dump and restrooms with showers. There's a 1-1/2 mile long drive into the campground on a dirt road that was full of ruts and pot-holes. We were told the road would be resurfaced the following day but it never was. All the sites are shady, wooded and private with lots of wooded space between sites but some are tight to get into because of trees. There's a boat and kayak launch that leads to Pelletier Creek for saltwater and fresh water fishing, kayak rentals, tables and fire rings at all sites, some have grills. A community campfire circle and 2 covered pavilions. A primitive youth camp for up to 100 people. Lots of nature trails.
