Plainfield Township, Mich., has added the former Grand Rogue Campground to its park system, according to MLive. The township purchased the 83-acre property, which is located at the intersection of the Rogue and Grand rivers, following its closure in late August. One of the township’s goals is to link the property to the neighboring Grand Isle Park through a trail system that would eventually connect to the White Pine Trail, according to Bill Fischer, Plainfield’s Community Development director. Over the next several months, the township’s Parks and Recreation Committee will be preparing an overall development plan for the park. The Grand Rogue Campground, located at 6400 West River Drive, features opportunities for hiking, paddle sports, wildlife viewing and other recreational activities. The sale price of $950,000 was funded by the township and the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund, according to Fischer.
